Medicare Rebates
At Helix Hearing, a referral is not required to be seen. However, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for a hearing assessment if you provide a referral from a medical practitioner, such as a GP, paediatrician, or ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist.
Any referral must be provided at the time of your appointment.
It is the patient’s responsibility to obtain and provide the referral.
Full payment is required on the day, and any applicable Medicare rebate will be processed afterwards.
Only one Medicare rebate can be claimed per referral. A new referral is required for each hearing assessment to be eligible for a rebate.
Rebates for wax removal are available only if you have a Chronic Conditions Management Plan (GPCCMP) from your GP and are attending a session with an Audiologist.
If you have private health insurance, you may be able to claim through your extras cover. Please note: HICAPS is not available for Audiology services, but a receipt with the required details will be provided for reimbursement.
*Important: It is fraudulent to claim the same service on both Medicare and your private health insurance.
Payment is strictly required on the day of consultation unless otherwise arranged and authorised with management.
Payment can be made either by cash, EFTPOS, credit card or direct bank transfer. We do not require a medical referral from you in order to book an appointment.
Accreditation
Helix Hearing is fully accredited with WorkSafe, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP).
Should you have an existing Worksafe hearing claim or eligible for a new claim then we are able to assist, with the costs covered by the Worksafe Insurer.
As with the HSP, should you be eligible then all services are covered. All audiologists are accredited with Audiology Australia and maintain their ongoing professional development obligations.
